Overwatch Is Coming To Fortnite

It’s actually happening. Epic Games has officially confirmed that Fortnite will be collaborating with Overwatch, with the crossover launching as part of Chapter 7 – Season 2 – Act 3 on May 14th. The Fortnite account posted the first official teaser earlier today, which was a short video clip accompanied by a silhouette of D.Va appearing under Act 3’s segment with the title “Answer The Call.”

This collaboration has had one of the longest runway periods of any Fortnite crossover in recent memory. Overwatch coming to the game was first leaked by an Epic Games insider earlier this year known as AdiraFNInfo, who stated that the collaboration would be happening in the game’s next season. After these leaks came out, nothing really happened. The hype started to die down, some people assumed it was just a false leak or a scrapped collaboration, and the Overwatch leakers had no real comment or additional information to give towards the Fortnite leaks. It got to the point where, when Season 2 launched, some members of the community felt like the collaboration was scrapped, with one of the characters being swapped in the Battle Pass for the Dasha outfit.

The Cosmetics Confirmed So Far

Based on the data-mined information and what’s been officially teased, the collaboration is expected to feature four Overwatch heroes as Fortnite outfits and car decals:

  • Tracer
  • Mercy
  • Genji
  • D.Va

These four have been some of the most consistently named characters in leaks since early January, and it’s a pretty obvious selection to be fair. Tracer was the original face of Overwatch, with Mercy and Genji being some of the game’s most popular characters (well, besides Kiriko if we pay attention to how many cosmetics she gets in Overwatch…), and D.Va has a pretty huge fanbase with a strong visual identity that translates well into what makes sense for a wacky Fortnite collaboration. We can expect the usual bundle structure of outfits, back blings, pickaxes, and emotes, but it will be interesting to see what they can pull off for each character’s cosmetic set.

Not only are we getting outfits for Fortnite, but it would appear that the Porsche Macan SUV will be making its way into both Rocket League and Fortnite, according to SamLeakss on X. Having this car appear alongside the Overwatch collaboration is an interesting pairing, as Overwatch and Porsche share a partnership dating back to 2024, when we first saw a Porsche collaboration drop onto Overwatch with an event and some item shop cosmetics.

What We Don’t Know Yet

The official teaser is light on specifics beyond confirming the collaboration for May 14th. Full skin details, exact pricing, and any news on Overwatch-themed Limited Time Modes, map changes, or weapons are very sparse, with some members of the community, such as Fortnite leaker Wensoing, mentioning map changes potentially linked to Overwatch, but no actual word from Fortnite themselves about it.

Given the scale of this collaboration, with two of the biggest games in the live-service world crossing over, it would be surprising if Epic Games didn’t pair it with some kind of themed gameplay element, and with each Act featuring gameplay items for completing milestones on both Team Foundation and Team Ice King, I feel like it has to happen, but nothing has been confirmed as of yet.

The 10th anniversary of Overwatch also happens this year, with the 10th anniversary event in Overwatch having kicked off earlier today, helping make the timing feel deliberately chosen rather than a coincidental delay. With May 14th just two days away, we’ll have full coverage of everything happening in Act 3 once it goes live!
