Epic Games is beginning to test new ways to award players who simply want to play Fortnite. Starting Saturday, May 30th, you’ll be able to pick up a plethora of free rewards by logging into the game, even without interacting with the community. This information comes from Fortnite on X with the following post:
Fortnite has decided to celebrate Chapter 7 – Season 2 ending in style, by allowing players to earn a free Community ‘Brella, an indigo variant of that ‘Brella, the Silver Surfer Wrap, and even a Workplace Foundation style for those who own the current Battle Pass or are active Fortnite Crew subscribers.
These rewards weren’t chosen randomly either; the Workplace Foundation Style is a callback to a trailer we got for the launch of the current season, where we saw a version of the Foundation in that exact attire.
Other cosmetics also include significant reasons behind them, with the Silver Surfer’s Reflector Wrap being added to the game back in Chapter 2, Season 4, with the original Silver Surfer skin, never having been released in the game despite being seen and showcased for a long time by leakers. This wrap is the most wishlisted wrap on Fortnite.GG, with the Neon Pulse wrap being the second most-wishlisted wrap on the community-run site. With Epic Games checking the community site for potential rewards to give to players, it makes sense why it was chosen, but I’m still curious if they got an external ok from Marvel to give out the reward, or if they just have that good of a partnership with Disney that they didn’t even need to ask.
For the final reward we can quickly talk about, it’s the indigo colored variant of the Community ‘Brella. The Indigo Kuno skin was originally an exclusive cosmetic from the PlayStation Generations Cup back in Chapter 2, Season 5. It was one of the skins that many in the community deemed as a super rare “OG” cosmetic. Recently, the content creator Typical Gamer was granted the skin in his locker and was allowed to share that the skin would be released in the Item Shop sooner rather than later. According to Fortnite leaker Shiina, Epic Games had also told Typical Gamer that he’s the reason why Indigo Kuno is releasing after almost 2,000 days. They weren’t originally sure if it was possible to even bring her back, but after looking into it and what I would assume was a long discussion with Sony, they realized it was possible!
So, will you be logging in on May 30th to grab these free rewards before they’re put back into the content vault? According to Epic Games employee Tofu Chris, we can expect more Community Days in the future with even more cosmetic rewards picked out by those who share a common love for the game.
As a reminder, you can pick up a new Glider entirely for free by logging in tomorrow, May 23rd, anytime from 9 AM ET to May 24th @ 9 AM ET. If you want to refresh your mind on what that glider looks like and if it’s worth picking up, you can check out that article here!
