Fortnite is Going Full Star Wars This May With New Games, A Movie Sneak Peek, and More!

Star Wars in Fortnite isn’t anything new. Epic, Disney, and Lucasfilm have been doing limited-time events, item shop releases, and even a crossover season for years at this point. But what’s happening in May 2026, starting tomorrow, is a different scale entirely. Starting tomorrow, hundreds of Star Wars islands built using the official Lucasfilm-licensed UEFN toolkit will be eligible to go live tomorrow, turning Fortnite Creative into what Epic is advertising as the only place you can play Star Wars games with friends out now (outside of dedicated Star Wars titles obviously).

The Star Wars UEFN toolkit gives developers access to official characters, environments, vehicles, and assets from Lucasfilm. It’s been available to creators for a while now but May 1st is when all of that work is able to go public in a big coordinated wave. On top of the community-made content, Epic Games and Lucasfilm have developed three new game modes of their own to launch alongside the community made maps, and there’s even a Mandalorian and Grogu tie-in event later this month that’s worth paying attention to if you’re planning on seeing the movie when it releases.

Three New Games From Epic And Lucasfilm

All three games launch tomorrow, May 1st, and cover a very pretty set of genres, leaving something for PvP fans, Co-Op fans, and even the Tycoon/builder crowd.

  • Galactic Siege (developed with JOGO Studios, island code: 5003-9856-3648) – Fight in large-scale PvP class-based battles with 10v10 combat across iconic Star Wars planets.
  • Escape Vader (made with Beyond Creative, island code: 7285-4185-5428) – Hide, run, and try to survive in this 4-player co-op game where you attempt to escape the terrifying Sith Lord, Darth Vader.
  • Droid Tycoon (created with FOAD, island code: 7865-8305-9184) – Build and customize droids using authentic Star Wars blueprints, manage your workshop and factory systems, and unlock rare components and special missions.

Escaper Vader is the one that’s going to get the most attention right out of the gate, as the idea of a 4-player asymmetric hide-and-seek game where Darth Vader is the one hunting you down seems like an instantly compelling concept. It’s the exact same type of concept that spreads like wildfire on social media with people trying to get funny moments. Galactic Siege has the competitive angle covered for players who want something more structured, while Droid Tycoon is clearly going after the same audience that’s spent hundreds of hours in other tycoon games.

Weekly Quests and Free Rewards All Month

New Star Wars quests will begin rolling out tomorrow alongside the game launches and will continue every week throughout May. While some quests are focused on playing the Epic-made experiences, there’s also quests for playing any Star Wars map made by the community, as seen in a post by Fortnite leaker FireMonkey:

New Cosmetics Galore

This Star Wars month isn’t just focused on giving players more things to actually experience, but as always we will be getting new cosmetics in the Item Shop. Attached below are new Star Wars themed cosmetics, with the Clone Wars outfits of Ahsoka Tano and Anakin Skywalker releasing in the May 1st Item Shop. The Mandalorian (Pen & Ink) Outfit won’t release until May 21st, alongside the BDX Sidekick.

For those wanting a free reward, you can claim the Carbonite Fishstick Backbling at no extra charge by linking your MyDisney and Epic Games accounts together. To find out more on how to do that, view the official Epic Games support article here. Make sure to link your Epic Games Account with your MyDisney Account before October 31, 2026 for this prize!

The Mandalorian And Grogu Watch Party

This is the headline event of the month for anyone who’s been following the Mandalorian and Grogu movie, which hits theaters May 22nd. On May 19th at 10 AM Eastern Time, three days before the movies release, a watch party island opens up in Fortnite where Jon Favreau will share a special message to players. Players will also be able to get a 10-minute sneak peek at the film, something that is completely unexpected. Typically when we get previews they end up being a minute if that, so a 10 minute preview window is actually insanely generous.

The island itself is built around Nevarro and has a unique gameplay loop: you get recruited as a Deputy, collect bounties, defend the city from waves of enemies, and find Grogu. Spend 20 minutes exploring and you unlock the exclusive Mandalorian Sanctuary loading screen. Then on May 26th, the island’s amphitheater hosts a Q&A with Favreau for community questions about the film. It’s a crazy event to see a watch party and Q&A session being held in the same map that has actual gameplay for you to suck yourselves into.

Everything Else Coming in May

I’m aware this is a lot more image heavy than normal, but luckily Epic Games came through with tons of images to help everyone get a visual grasp on the entire event. All month in May there will be more things going on, so here’s everything planned for May in Fortnite:

  • April 30th: The Free Carbonite Fishstick Backbling releases.
  • May 1st: The Clone Wars Skins release in the Item Shop.
  • May 1st: Hundreds of Star Wars Creative Islands go live in Fortnite.
  • May 14th: LEGO Fortnite Odyssey gets a Star Wars update with the new Hover Brick, hover vehicles, Mando and Grogu, and Star Wars enemies.
  • May 19th: The Mandalorian and Grogu Watch Party island opens at 10 AM ET.
  • May 21st: Mandalorian (Pen & Ink) and the BDX Sidekick release in Fortnite.
  • May 26th: Jon Favreau hosts a Q&A at the watch party island amphitheater
  • All Month Long: New and returning Star Wars outfits rotate throughout the Item Shop.

The scale of this partnership is genuinely different from past Star Wars crossovers in Fortnite, with hundreds of community-made games being available in just a day. Epic Games worked closely with Lucasfilm in order to get an insane amount of assets, NPCs, and weapons available for map makers that never even originally released in Fortnite. On top of this, three first-party experiences, a film tie-in watch party, and a month of quests across all of it make this feel more like a platform takeover then it does a crossover. Whether the quality of the community islands holds up across all those hundreds of options is the real unknown, but with Escape Vader and the Watch Party as anchors, there’s at least a solid reason to log in regardless.
