Friday Night in Fortnite is the night when everything Chapter 7, Season 2 has built up to comes to an end. Fortnite: Shattered, the end-of-season live event which pits Team Foundation against Team Ice King, is happening June 5th at 7 PM Eastern Time, with doors to enter the mode opening at 6:20 PM ET. All season long, we’ve been racking up Rivalry Wins on your chosen team to help unlock new rewards for whichever group we feel is the better choice, and it all leads up to a unique experience where the team you chose will give you a different depiction of the live event.
The most important thing to know going in: this is a one-time event with no replay. If you miss it on Friday night, it’s gone. There’s no scheduled in-game replay after the fact, and rewards are tied to attending live. After Fortnite: Shattered ends, we will instantly be going into downtime for the launch of Chapter 7, Season 3: Runners.
When available, you can find Shattered in the top row of the Discovery menu, and we’d recommend jumping in as soon as you can to the 6:20 PM ET starting time, as even if you have to wait 40 minutes, you won’t have to worry about struggling to make it into the server when everyone else is slamming the servers together.
Free Rewards For Attending
If you attend the event, you’ll be able to pick up two free rewards, assuming you meet the requirements, which are listed below:

Both rewards will appear in your Locker once the next Battle Royale season goes live, and don’t worry if you miss out on any of these, as Epic has also noted that the rewards may appear in the Item Shop at a later date, so if you miss Friday due to other obligations, there could eventually be another way to get them, but attending live is the guaranteed path.
What makes this interesting is that there was originally a different pickaxe reward mentioned as the event freebie, being the Dark Voyager’s Pickaxe. The pickaxe has a full model and was designed to match the full Dark Voyager aesthetic, but for some reason got swapped out for what I thought looked cooler, being the Cutlasses mentioned above.
The current theory of why this second pickaxe exists is due to a fully cubified version of the Dark Voyager being set to have a role in Fortnite: Shattered. This version isn’t a variant of the skin in-game currently and is unique enough to make sense for an Item Shop release. We could easily see the pickaxe being something in the Cubed Voyager (Not the official name) bundle once it releases in the Item Shop!
