Fortnite Save The World: Unheard Secrets from the Lead Designer

The long-awaited Free-to-Play launch of Fortnite: Save the World is finally right around the corner and out of nowhere Jason, a Lead Designer on the mode, has decided to do a Q&A, revealing a ton of secrets and potential updates for the future of the mode post-free to play! Here is everything we learned about the post-F2P era for the homebase and even a look back at some secrets of the past.

Early Versions of Enemies

During the early developmental phases of Fortnite: Save the World there were a lot of models or alterations for the enemies in the game that never ended up making the final cut. Some of these models such as a Magician, which would’ve been a Lobber that took flaming skulls out of a top have, got revealed earlier today by Jason. Below are a few of the rare information drops that he had provided on X (Formally Twitter)!

The Mysterious “Mansion” Space

One mystery that has been floating around in the Fortnite: Save the World community for a while now has been different maps known as “Limbo” and “The Mansion”. Both of these have been in the game files since the early alpha iterations of Fortnite but not much was known about them other than that they existed. According to Jason, this was a space where you would be able to build stuff and have it stick across servers.

Think about this feature as what the modern Stonewood, Plankerton, Canny Valley, and Twine Peaks Storm Shields are today, just in a very alternative “spookier” fashion. Some users even pointed out in the early playtest builds of the game this location went by another name of “The Manor”, which according to the Fortnite Fandom Wiki was:

The Manor was meant to be a sort of paid creative mode for Save the World, with the player being able to build their own manor with their own decorations. They can then invite other players to mess around.

Birthday Exclusive Heroes

For the final topic Jason had shed some new light on, it was in relation to Birthday Heroes. For those unaware; the Birthday Heroes for Save the World have three different versions, being for the first, second, and third birthdays respectively. To obtain these heroes you had to do stuff during the specific birthday they were available in.

This has always been the case, however Jason accidentally mentioned that these heroes were intended to also be in the yearly birthday llamas as potential rewards, despite having never been a potential reward. After Jason posted this and discovered these heroes never actually appeared in Birthday Llamas he had a follow up which may have hinted at these rare unobtainable heroes becoming something the average player might be able to obtain once again in July when Fortnite: Save the Worlds birthday happens for the first time post Free-to-Play launch.

Regardless of what happens, new content is heavily planned for this year, from new Missions, Heroes, Weapons, Quests, and more, so make sure to follow us closely to stay up to date!
