After an internal memo was posted by The Verge about Game Pass pricing being “too expensive for players” Microsoft has taken the first step in making the program more affordable for gamers. Starting today, Game Pass is having a price cut for both the Ultimate and PC Game Pass Tiers.
For Game Pass Ultimate subscribers, the price will drop from $29.99 to $22.99 a month, a $7 decrease in price. For PC Game Pass subscribers, the price will drop from $16.49 to $13.99 a month, a $2.50 decrease in price. This is still a $3 increase from the Game Pass Ultimate price a year ago, but still stings a lot less.
What’s The Catch?

In recent times, companies aren’t the ones to decrease prices, instead they typically increase them. Due to this, many are wondering what the catch is that allows the price to be more affordable. According to Microsoft, future Call of Duty titles will not be added to Game Pass right away, instead being added during the following holiday season (about a year later).
This is the only benefit that appears to be changing as other benefits in Ultimate such as Ubisoft+ Classics and Cloud Streaming will stay in the program for the foreseeable future. These price changes have already been taken into effect, and those with active subscriptions won’t see any changes other than a cheaper bill come renewal time.
